Control Freaks.....

This is a rhetorical question because I doubt if any two answers would ever be the same; When did "We the People" begin losing control of our own destiny man? I ask this question out of concern and frustration and fear..."We the People", for the most part, have failed ourselves, our kids and grandkids, our environment, our peace...WE DID NOT GET PISSED ENOUGH!! "We the People" must now work very hard to educate the masses we're leaving behind to understand what went wrong, and why, and hope that they aren't too late to clean up our mess...This is a heavy load man! Who does the teaching? Who does the learning? How is what's learned used to guarantee a better future? Who implements what? Who's in charge?

A couple of things come to mind that I need to clarify before going on....I'm just an old hippie, so what is clear to me might be pretty far out compared to what is clear to most...So, dig this...Although the term "We the People" is famous for being the first three words in the United States Constitution, in my world it means "We the People" of the world...Also, when I say "We the People" failed, this hippie believes that by not doing enough to stop the madness equates to failing, and I'm as guilty as the next cat...Is this when we began to lose control of our own destiny? "We the People" vote or don't vote, we stand for something or we sit for nothing, we make noise or we stifle our thoughts, we demand representation or we invite self-serving politicians....He who takes a stand is often wrong, but he who fails to take a stand is always wrong...

I worry that my grandkids, and certainly their grandkids, will suffer...Will they be able to swim in the ocean or play in tall grass or breathe clean air or hike in the forest or fish in a mountain stream? Most of this world, including the United States, love using mass communication to talk the talk and bellow proudly about human rights and equal rights and religious rights and military might and environmental strides and world peace, as if they're talking to complete idiots....Is this when we began to lose control of our own destiny? Although I believe that some of these issues have improved, most of the world aren't even close to resolving their own interpretation of these buzz terms...What a trip man!

Sorry man...I got a little off the groove...Have you pondered the original question yet? Remember? When did "We the Peoplebegin losing control of our own destiny? This can't be answered because "We the People" can't even begin to define what losing control or destiny is....Is this when we began to lose control of our own destiny? In my humble hippie opinion, our world has been blessed with men and women with brilliant minds...These chics and cats, from the beginning of time, have designed and created and improved their creations over and over again, generation after generation, then they needed huge factories and powerful machines and cheap labor which made them very wealthy..Is this when we began to lose control of our own destiny? Everyone was so busy thinking and creating and owning and profiting far beyond what they ever dreamed, they forgot to consult with the Virgo's in their part of the world...In other words, they didn't think for one moment about  how to clean up their creative mess! Is this when we began to lose control of our own destiny? The land, the water, the air was quickly being destroyed...Although there have been environmental genius's around as long as there have been industrialist, it wasn't a profitable venture to clean up...Hmmm? Money got in the way again of common sense and accountability and concern for the future...Is this when we began to lose control of our own destiny?

How do we make Mother Earth's gifts of land, air, and water more valuable than money? How do we ensure that decisions made by a handful of people truly represent "We the People"? When do we realize that sending 18 and 19 year old college students to war because the "enemy" isn't Christian or "free" is doing NOTHING but killing 18 and 19 year old college students? God I wish I had the answers to all of these questions, but I don't...Is this when we began to lose control of our own destiny? I am certain that there are brilliant peace makers among all of us in every region of the world...When "We the People" discuss regional and global issues and solutions in our living rooms, in our ohanas, in our huts, in our tents, in our casitas, in our boats, or anywhere else we gather, take your best thoughts to the next level and make them known..."Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed individuals can change the world, indeed it's the only thing that ever has." ~ Margaret Meade..."We the People" MUST stand up, make noise, demand changes AGAIN!

This old hippie really digs "We the People"...I have confidence in "We the People"...I have faith in "We the People"...I am depending on "We the People"...

Just some final thoughts man...Our system of government has failed and we have failed our system of government...As groovy as it would be to have a peaceful, effective world order without being so dependent on wealth and power and might and religion, it will never happen in my lifetime...For now, I think it's important to do two things...First, rap with your family and friends and young people and old people and politicians and anyone else with thoughts and opinions, about what went wrong and how "We the People" can repair the damage done, live a shameless fearless life, and sustain a clean, healthy earth...Second, identify the ones amongst you that have the gift of gab to talk with, and keep the pressure on, your local and government representatives...They should be, and need to be, for now, our voice...Always always always keep that in mind...Until "We the People" demand and implement a better system of world and national organization, I'm afraid we're stuck with our existing systems of governing...By the way man...Dig the actual definition of the word "Government"...Scary huh?

gov·ern·ment - government is the organization, or agency through which a political unit exercises its authority, controls and administers public policy, and directs and controls the actions of its members or subjects.

Pass this along to many...There truly is power in numbers man! Post your comments man...Let's start here!
